Thinking about coming to church for the first time?
Have you attended another church, but would like to join us? Or are you just visiting?
Read on to find out everything you need to know about our Sunday worship services
If you are planning to come along to a service in Sloan Street we hope you find it a comfortable and encouraging experience. Here are a few things things that might be helpful before you arrive.
The Sunday morning service lasts around 1 hour 15 minutes, from 11:30 to 12:45. There is no reserved seating so sit where you like; if the building is filling up one of the welcome team may show you to a free seat.
There is a crèche for children under 3 years old that you can leave children at any time before or during the service.
There is no dress-code so wear whatever you are comfortable with. You will find that there are people dressed in suits as well as others in jeans and a T-shirt, both are fine!
Our church family is made up of all sorts of different people, young and old, male and female, those who have grown up in church and those that until recently hadn’t been to church at all.
During the service after the music team lead us in a couple of songs, children up the age of 11 are invited to come to the front where we tell them part of the Bible story. They then leave the main service and go to Adventurers (for 3-4 yr olds) or Treasure Seekers (4-11 yr olds), where they follow up the story with activities in their own age groups. They can be collected at the end of the service.
For the rest of the time we sing some more songs together about God (no one is forced to sing so don’t worry if you don’t know the songs or you haven’t got a voice for the X Factor!), read from the Bible, pray and spend about 30 minutes having the Bible taught in a way that is understandable and relevant.
There is an offering but you certainly don’t have to contribute to it – we’d just be delighted to see you!
The Sunday evening service is around 1 hour (6:30-7:30) and is similar to the morning but there are no special children’s activities and we meet in the church hall on Sloan Street.
Whether you have been a Christian for years or if you’re just interested in what Christians believe or who Jesus is, we’d love to see you any Sunday morning.
